Guest Blog Post: Facts and Safety Concerns about Asbestos

As the leading cause of mesothelioma, asbestos is an indisputable danger to human health. While most people are aware that asbestos is a carcinogen, there are several other facts that are less widely known:
• Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral with six subtypes.
• Asbestos is banned in more than 50 countries – but not the United States.
• Asbestos is present in most pre-1980s buildings.
• Inhaling or ingesting asbestos can cause lung cancer, asbestosis and other diseases.

To remain safe from asbestos, avoid handling any potentially asbestos-containing materials and schedule regular health screenings if you have been exposed.
